Six-year-old VERY SURPRISE looks poised to complete a hat trick in Sunday’s 1800m Class 5A contest at Kuala Lumpur.
Since joining Joseph Leck’s Selangor stables, he has impressed with two wins and a second from four local starts. The gelding comes off back-to-back victories over the mile, the latest a commanding 4.75-length triumph here two weeks ago.
Although stepping up to 1800m for the first time, VERY SURPRISE appears well-suited to the longer trip. Despite a 4.5kg weight increase, he meets another winnable field and remains a strong contender to secure his third consecutive win.
After seven runs in Malaysia, KIM KIM looks set for a winning return in Sunday’s 1500m Class 4A event.
Since her local debut in March, the six-year-old mare has shown steady improvement, notching three minor placings. She was runner-up in her last two starts, including a solid performance against the unbeaten local, Infinity Warrior, over 1300m.
Now with Nick Selvan for her third run, KIM KIM—formerly Ahorsewithnoname—appears well-positioned to break through for her first win since January last year.
