Race Preview
RACE 1: LE ROYAL DEAUVILLE STAKES (TURF TRACK) (FROM MARSEILLE-BORELY RACE 1) – 2600M – TIME: 18:00 PRIZE MONEY: EUR14000
Summary: A small field but a very competitive race. DOCTEUR TOURNESOL (2) is in very good
shape and was only caught very late last time out at this course. He can go one better. ALROMY
(3) is in very good form and her last run on the PSf is best ignored. She will be a threat. SANCHO
(5) has not won for some time but got close last time out and can contest the finish again.
MOUTRAKI (1) has won over this track and trip before and deserves some respect.
SELECTIONS
DOCTEUR TOURNESOL (2) – ALROMY (3) – SANCHO (5) – MOUTRAKI (1)
RACE 2: GYPTIS ET PROTIS STAKES (TURF TRACK) (FROM MARSEILLE-BORELY RACE 2) – 1700M – TIME: 18:30 PRIZE MONEY: EUR22000
Summary: LORD OF WAR (3) has won at this track before. He showed improvement last time and
should make a bold bid at beating these rivals. PALMAROLA (4) may be at very best over further
but is clearly not out of it. THIENE (5) is in very good and woul not be a surprise winner. DARLING
DARLING (1) has struggled of late but could contest the finish back at this course.
SELECTIONS
LORD OF WAR (3) – PALMAROLA (4) – DARLING DARLING (1) – ELDIO (2)
RACE 3: LOUIS ESPANET CLAIMING STAKES (TURF TRACK) (FROM MARSEILLE-BORELY RACE 3) – 1700M – TIME: 19:00 PRIZE MONEY: EUR16000
Summary: IZASTEP (1) returned to form with a good win on the PSF last time out. He does seem
to prefer that surface but won so well he might just win again. SLEEPY SUZY (2) has done well in
claimers before and will not go down with a real fight for top honours. INDIAN PACIFIC (3) is better
than the last run would suggest. PIANINO (6) has done well at this course before and is not out of
it.
SELECTIONS
IZASTEP (1) – SLEEPY SUZY (2) – INDIAN PACIFIC (3) – PIANINO (6)
RACE 4: D’ENDOUME HANDICAP (TURF TRACK) (FROM MARSEILLE-BORELY RACE 4) – 2100M – TIME: 19:30 PRIZE MONEY: EUR20000
Summary: LOU MAN (2) disappointed on the PSF last time out. He is betetr on the turf and can
bounce back to score. MAX VERST (5) only found one better on the day at this course last time
out and deserves respect in this line-up. FORCE TRANQUILLE (1) is in good shape and will be
right there at the finish yet again. AQUILON (7) is better this distance but is not easy to trust entirely.
SELECTIONS
LOU MAN (2) – MAX VERST (5) – FORCE TRANQUILLE (1) – AQUILON (7)
RACE 5: ANTIVARI MAIDEN STAKES (TURF TRACK) (FROM SAINT-CLOUD RACE 1) – 1500M – TIME: 19:48 PRIZE MONEY: EUR50000
Summary: Regally bred CUALIFICAR (4) will be of significant interest on his eagerly anticipated
debut. He could be forward enough to score first-up and is preferred to Mario Baratti’s
representative MOURAT (1). However, ANAMALAY (2) and NEKAZARI (5) are also attractively
bred newcomers who shouldn’t be underestimated.
SELECTIONS
CUALIFICAR (4) – MOURAT (1) – ANAMALAY (2) – NEKAZARI (5)
RACE 6: JEAN-CLAUDE NAPOLI STAKES (TURF TRACK) (FROM MARSEILLE-BORELY RACE 5) – 2000M – TIME: 20:05 PRIZE MONEY: EUR27000
Summary: STARNBERG (2) is unbeaten in two starts and both of his wins were impressive. It will
take a big run to beat this time again. PASTISSE (4) was a game winner of a handicap last time
out and is more experienced so will be a threat. HERMES WOOD (1) has done all that has been
asked of him but this a tougher task. TANFEPAS (5) is improving and can also get into the mix of
things.
SELECTIONS
STARNBERG (2) – PASTISSE (4) – HERMES WOOD (1) – TANFEPAS (5)
RACE 7: DOUVE MAIDEN STAKES (TURF TRACK) (FROM SAINT-CLOUD RACE 2) – 1500M – TIME: 20:23 PRIZE MONEY: EUR50000
Summary: CANKOURA (1) and MQSE DES NYMPHES (12) are well-bred fillies closely related to
high-class performers. They will attract interest in the preliminaries and could find themselves
fighting for victory. David Menuisier has a good record on his travles to France, especially with his
young horses and that bodes well for the chances of DIANARINA (4) who should be respected. As
a daughter of Showcasing, whose progeny are effective on deep/heavy ground, PRINCESSE
MANDEL (6) could make her presence felt too.
SELECTIONS
CANKOURA (1) – MQSE DES NYMPHES (12) – DIANARINA (4) – PRINCESSE MANDEL (6)
RACE 8: GRAND PRIX DE MARSEILLE LISTED STAKES (TURF TRACK) (FROM MARSEILLE-BORELY RACE 6) – 2000M – TIME: 20:40 PRIZE MONEY: EUR60000
Summary: DAR TOUNGI (5) is at best around this distance and only found one better on the day
last time out at Strasbourg. He is weighted to turn the tables on that rival. DILAWAR (1) was that
rival that won last time out and he should be right there at the finish yet again. MORPHEWAN (2)
is very game and can get involved with the finish yet again. CAMBRONNE (3) is hat-trick seeking
and is another to consider.
SELECTIONS
DAR TOUNGI (5) – DILAWAR (1) – MORPHEWAN (2) – CAMBRONNE (3)
RACE 9: HEROD LISTED STAKES (TURF TRACK) (FROM SAINT-CLOUD RACE 3) – 1400M – TIME: 20:58 PRIZE MONEY: EUR60000
Summary: CHAR (1) has revealed considerable means in 2 starts across the Channel and could
take this step up in class in his stride in his first start on French soil. IRON BIRD (7) was unlucky
not to have achieved a better result last time and is well-equipped to challenge the selection, as
are GLAMIS ROAD (5) and PINKY CEN (8), who should appreciate reverting to this shorter trip.
SELECTIONS
CHAR (1) – IRON BIRD (7) – GLAMIS ROAD (5) – PINKY CEN (8)
RACE 10: PAUL GAUTIER HANDICAP (TURF TRACK) (FROM MARSEILLE-BORELY RACE 7) – 1700M – TIME: 21:15 PRIZE MONEY: EUR17000
Summary: LIVING NELSON (9) is in good form and clearly very competitive off this mark so could
be ready to break a long losing run. NOBLE AMBER (2) is unreliable but has shone at this track
before and should be a lively danger. ESTOKENIA (4) has also won at this track and is capable of
contesting the finish. BLANC BLEU (3) can go one better this time but is battling a long losing
streak.
SELECTIONS
LIVING NELSON (9) – NOBLE AMBER (2) – ESTOKENIA (4) – BLANC BLEU (3)
RACE 11: TANTIEME LISTED STAKES (TURF TRACK) (FROM SAINT-CLOUD RACE 4) – 1600M – TIME: 21:33 PRIZE MONEY: EUR52000
Summary: MOUNTAIN SONG (1) fluffed her lines in the Group II Prix Daniel Wildenstein last time
but retains the means to win a race of this nature. She should play a leading role and could make
amends in these calmer waters, though does concede weight to several genuine threats. OCEAN
VIKING (5) leads the opposition ahead of last-start comeback winner SUCHET (7) and BLUE
BROTHER (4), with the shortlist completed by ZOOM (3).
SELECTIONS
MOUNTAIN SONG (1) – OCEAN VIKING (5) – SUCHET (7) – BLUE BROTHER (4)
RACE 12: POINTE ROUGE HANDICAP (TURF TRACK) (FROM MARSEILLE-BORELY RACE 8) – 1700M – TIME: 21:50 PRIZE MONEY: EUR16000
Summary: RABBAH (1) carries a penalty for a good last win but can double up and take out this
lucky last race. PIERRE LE GRAND (2) ran well at Chantilly last week and should be competitive
once again. SOAN (3) has struggled of late but is capable of being a threat when in the right mood.
COME TI AMO (6) is usually competitive and can make the frame this distance.
SELECTIONS
RABBAH (1) – PIERRE LE GRAND (2) – SOAN (3) – COME TI AMO (6)
RACE 13: BOUCLES SEINE LISTED STAKES (TURF TRACK) (FROM SAINT-CLOUD RACE 5) – 1600M – TIME: 22:15 PRIZE MONEY: EUR53000
Summary: SHORT FINAL (2) has repeatedly proven his competitiveness in this category off his
current mark and has nothing to prove on deep/heavy ground. The return to a mile also holds no
fears so he has a legitimate winning chance. JOH SPIRIT (8) left a great impression when winning
over this course and distance last time and she remains competitive for the leading places, despite
a resultant penalty. AVENUE MONTAIGNE (9), never worse than 3rd, and TUMBLER (6), whose
consistency in Quinte races stands him in good stead, should also have a say in the outcome.
HALF HALF (4), GALORD (1) and AMEDRAS (3) aren’t taken lightly either in a typically competitive
Quinte+ event.
SELECTIONS
SHORT FINAL (2) – JOH SPIRIT (8) – AVENUE MONTAIGNE (9) – TUMBLER (6)
