France Form Sheet – 11 November
Race Preview
RACE 1: ALBERT SCHWEITZER STAKES (TURF TRACK) (FROM STRASBOURG RACE 2) – 2000M – TIME: 17:45 PRIZE MONEY: EUR27000
Summary: Supplemented after opening her account at Clairefontaine recently, CARISHA (3)
needn’t improve much on that performance to double her tally. Fellow last-start winner NEARCO
FROD (1) is best-equipped to challenge for race honours. The latter beat MON SCHATZI (2) and
LADY MADEIRA (9) when winning at Nancy last month and those rivals shouldn’t be far off the
mark. ZAGOR (7) and BOMBONERA (4) complete the shortlist.
SELECTIONS
CARISHA (3) – NEARCO FROD (1) – MON SCHATZI (2) – LADY MADEIRA (9)
RACE 2: NICOLAS DIEU MAIDEN STAKES (TURF TRACK) (FROM STRASBOURG RACE 3) – 2000M – TIME: 18:15 PRIZE MONEY: EUR17000
Summary: DSCHINGIS ANGEL (4) showed enough on debut at Cholet to suggest that she can
land a race of this nature if confirming/building on that promise. BLUE EYED KATE (10) made an
encouraging start on French soil and needn’t improve much to play a role in the outcome.
Rejuvenated APOPHTEGME (1), improving CANDYMAN (2) and course-and-distance 2nd
MARIE BLUSH (8) shouldn’t be underestimated and are legitimate contenders for a podium
berth.
SELECTIONS
DSCHINGIS ANGEL (4) – BLUE EYED KATE (10) – APOPHTEGME (1) – CANDYMAN (2)
RACE 3: MONTIER HANDICAP (TURF TRACK) (FROM STRASBOURG RACE 5) – 1400M – TIME: 19:16 PRIZE MONEY: EUR18000
Summary: NO TIME (10) lost out to ESSAI TRANSFORME (1) after a drawn-out fight to the
finish at Nancy last month but she is weighted to avenge that defeat on these terms, with the
latter carrying a penalty for that last-start success. With that in mind, HUR CAT (12) could emerge
as the biggest threat under his light weight. BEST SIXTEEN (9), not hastily condemned for his
disappointing last start, hat-trick seeking TOPINAMBUR (6), despite another penalty, and
BRAVEHEART (8), whose reassuring last start augurs well for his chances here, are others with
legitimate podium ambitions.
SELECTIONS
NO TIME (10) – HUR CAT (12) – ESSAI TRANSFORME (1) – BEST SIXTEEN (9)
RACE 4: ROSIERES AUX SALINES HANDICAP (TURF TRACK) (FROM STRASBOURG RACE 6) – 2350M – TIME: 19:48 PRIZE MONEY: EUR16000
Summary: A toss-up between the top 3 picks LE HOULME (11), who will be a different
proposition back on the turf, and familiar foes ARAMIS D’AZUR (9) and SALSA DU DEMON (2)
who renew rivalry having finished alongside each other at Chantilly last month. LOUNA CHOPE
(15), dangerous under a light weight, WONDER HOPE (8), proven at this level/in this category,
and RUE DAUPHINE (14), whose recent comeback would’ve done her good, arent taken lightly.
SILVER MAGIC (5) appeals most of the remainder.
SELECTIONS
LE HOULME (11) – ARAMIS D’AZUR (9) – SALSA DU DEMON (2) – LOUNA CHOPE (15)
RACE 5: STRASBOURG HANDICAP (TURF TRACK) (FROM STRASBOURG RACE 7) – 2350M – TIME: 20:20 PRIZE MONEY: EUR18000
Summary: Supplemented RED NUREYEV (13), hard-knocker BADEN ROCKS (10) and CATCH
THE STARS (7), who has regained momentum recently with headgear refitted, are genuine
candidates for success and likely to fight out the finish. QUEEN ZARA (3), absent since 10 June,
also has the means to play a leading role if fit and firing on her return. MANDOKI (15), SEA
GARDENS (4) and LOVEBIRD (14), another making a comeback after a layoff, aren’t taken
lightly and they complete the shortlist.
SELECTIONS
RED NUREYEV (13) – BADEN ROCKS (10) – CATCH THE STARS (7) – QUEEN ZARA (3)
RACE 6: CRITERIUM DU LANGUEDOC LISTED STAKES (TURF TRACK) (FROM TOULOUSE RACE 1) – 1600M – TIME: 20:58 PRIZE MONEY: EUR60000
Summary: TIPINSO (2) has been imprerssive so far. Hat-trick-seeking and distance suited he
looks the right one for this opening event. LADY MAJESTY CEN (8) showed what she is capable
of with a good win last time out and has more wins in her tank. AWAITING CHRISTMAS (3) was
not disgraced last time out and can contest the finish again. ALPHA WONDER (1) has done well
in Spain and could earn some more money.
SELECTIONS

(1)

Summary: MOMBASA AA (4) has been very good of late, winning three of her last four starts
and is proven over this distance. She looks hard to oppose. KHEOPS DE BUJ AA (8) has run
well over this distance and can eb competitive. KALIS DE LA BRUNIE AA (7) is holding form and
can get into the mix of things. FLAMBOYANTE AA (5) has been ultra-consistent so far and is not
out of it.
SELECTIONS
MOMBASA AA (4) – KHEOPS DE BUJ AA (8) – KALIS DE LA BRUNIE AA (7) –
FLAMBOYANTE AA (5)
RACE 8: VILLE TOULOUSE HANDICAP (TURF TRACK) (FROM TOULOUSE RACE 3) – 2400M – TIME: 22:15 PRIZE MONEY: EUR53000
Summary: A very competitive race. GRECIAN BONANZA (12) is in good form and his last run
suggested a win was not far away. PHILIPPO (14) is well weighted against the selection so
should be involved with the finish. CHELSEA DU NINIAN (6) arrives for this after a good run at
Saint-Cloud and deserves the utmost respect. AL BARQ (9) has done well at this track and is
another to consider.
SELECTIONS
GRECIAN BONANZA (12) – PHILIPPO (14) – CHELSEA DU NINIAN (6) – AL BARQ (9)
RACE 9: PRIX FILLE DE L’AIR (GROUP 3) (TURF TRACK) (FROM TOULOUSE RACE 4) – 2100M – TIME: 22:50 PRIZE MONEY: EUR80000
Summary: HIGHER LEAVES (8) impressed when last seen in France , winning at
parisLongchamp in September. She was not disgraced at Newmarket last time out and could
bounce back to score. SEA BREAKER (2) ran well at this track last time out and gets the services
of Maxime Guyon. Stable companion VEIL OF SHADOWS (1) returns after running well in
Germany and can contest the finish again. PERSIST (3) can make the frame.
SELECTIONS
HIGHER LEAVES (8) – SEA BREAKER (2) – VEIL OF SHADOWS (1) – PERSIST (3)
RACE 10: D’EQUIROL HANDICAP (TURF TRACK) (FROM TOULOUSE RACE 5) – 2000M – TIME: 23:28 PRIZE MONEY: EUR20000
Summary: PESTACLE (7) clearly likes this course and is in good shape. Maxime Guyon can get
a victory out of him. NONANCOURT (5) struggled on the PSF last time out but could bounce
back and be a lively danger on the turf. MISTER PRESIDENT (4) is unreliable but would not be a
surprise winner. EAGLE MOUNT (8) is holding form and should be competitive yet again.
SELECTIONS
PESTACLE (7) – NONANCOURT (5) – MISTER PRESIDENT (4) – EAGLE MOUNT (8)
RACE 11: DEPECHE DU MIDI HANDICAP (TURF TRACK) (FROM TOULOUSE RACE 6) – 2400M – TIME: 00:03 PRIZE MONEY: EUR20000
Summary: Trainer Caroline Bonin holds a decent hand in the race. CADE’S (3) has been very
consistent of late and deserves a winning turn. ELIOTT CHOP (1) usually does very well at this
track and will not go down without a challenge. LAGOONE CHOPE (2) is consistent and can
contest the finish. TIGRE ROUGE (9) has struck good form and is another that has to be
considered a possible winner.
SELECTIONS
CADE’S (3) – ELIOTT CHOP (1) – LAGOONE CHOPE (2) – TIGRE ROUGE (9)
RACE 12: JEROME RAMBAUD HANDICAP (TURF TRACK) (FROM TOULOUSE RACE 7) – 2400M – TIME: 00:38 PRIZE MONEY: EUR27000
Summary: A very cosy winner last time out over the course & distance, SWIRLING WIND (9) has
been raised six pounds in the handicap but seems to have what it takes to defy the penalty. She
gets the vote ahead of A BETTER WORLD (4), who boasts a solid record over the track & trip.
Second to the selection last time at the venue, KIRBY (17) must surely be shortlist material.
SPANISH LIGHT (1) has never run a bad race at this track and warrants some consideration.
SELECTIONS
SWIRLING WIND (9) – A BETTER WORLD (4) – KIRBY (17) – SPANISH LIGHT (1)
RACE 13: ACTU TOULOUSE (TURF TRACK) (FROM TOULOUSE RACE 8) – 1400M – TIME: 01:13 PRIZE MONEY: EUR16000
Summary: DZARINA (4) is an effective sort from the 1400m to a mile and a repeat of her recent
efforts could see her go close to winning. FLEXIBILITY (3) holds steady form and bringing her
back over the 1400m could be the suitable action for her. She has won over this distance at
Toulouse and is definitely a lively contender. SEAGALI (1) comes into a race where he could
make his presence felt. Bringing him back to a 1400m and taking weight off his back from his last
run could see him in the firing line. IDAHO JAMES (2) holds SOLID form and is definitely a runner
that can go very close.
SELECTIONS
DZARINA (4) – FLEXIBILITY (3) – SEAGALI (1) – IDAHO JAMES (2)
