2024 Group 1 Railway Stakes Preview

Light Infantry Man

This year’s Railway Stakes is set to be a thrilling clash of east versus west, with a formidable contingent of horses from New South Wales and Victoria making the journey across the Nullarbor to challenge the local talent. Among them is Light Infantry Man, ridden by the in-demand James McDonald, fresh off their victory during the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Light Infantry Man will be looking to add a long-awaited Group 1 to its record, having been the runner-up in the top level three times and finishing third twice. Representing the West will include Zipaway, trained by Neville Parnham and piloted by Steven Parnham. Last year, Zipaway claimed victory in the WA Guineas on this very day, and the Ascot mile has proven to be their domain, with an unblemished record over the track and distance.

Sky Racing’s Lewis Willoughby and Sam Phillips have delved deep into the feature races at Ascot on Saturday, and their expert preview is available for you in the video above.
