Race Preview
RACE 1: DU CARREFOUR D’ORLEANS STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM CHANTILLY RACE 1) – 1900M – TIME: 18:55 PRIZE MONEY: EUR28000
Summary: WILL SCARLET (2) returned from a break and ran a cracker last time out on this surface. He should go one better this time. ZABEEL LIGHT (6) won well on debut but has not been as good since then. She still remains a threat. MISTER URSUS (5) ran well on the grass last time out and is not out of it. MON FLAMANT (1) has won his last three starts and deserves respect despite the rise in the weight.
SELECTIONS
WILL SCARLET (2) – ZABEEL LIGHT (6) – MISTER URSUS (5) – MON FLAMANT (1)
RACE 2: DE L’ALLEE SANS SOUCI CLAIMING STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM CHANTILLY RACE 2) – 2700M – TIME: 19:30 PRIZE MONEY: EUR19000
Summary: NACIDO (10) looks the right one if he runs anywhere near his handicap mark. He is well weighted and and can go one better this time. PANGAEA (9) disappointed at Saint-Cloud but could be a threat on this surface. ALMACADO GREE (5) is usually competitive in this division and is not out of it. ALERIO (1) is not reliable but has beaten some of these rivals before so can make the frame.
SELECTIONS
NACIDO (10) – PENTAOUR (8) – ALMACADO GREE (5) – ALERIO (1)
RACE 3: DU ROND DU CHENE MAIDEN STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM CHANTILLY RACE 3) – 1900M – TIME: 20:05 PRIZE MONEY: EUR30000
Summary: SURABAD (1) was a good third on debut. The two that beat him come from powerful yards and this colt should go very close to winning this time. BOGDANN (4) has not been beaten far in both starts and can contest the finish. ANZOR (9) has shown promise in two starts to date and can be competitive again. LIBYAN KNIGHT (2) only found one better on his debut at this track and is another to consider.
SELECTIONS
SURABAD (1) – BOGDANN (4) – ANZOR (9) – LIBYAN KNIGHT (2)
RACE 4: DE LA BOUCLE D’EN HAUT MAIDEN STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM CHANTILLY RACE 4) – 2700M – TIME: 20:40 PRIZE MONEY: EUR22000
Summary: MANIGOD (9) has got close to winning many times and gets a narrow vote to win this race but it will be tight. FAR L’AMORE (4) last ran at Goodwood in the UK and could be a threat here on his French debut. AMARENA DODVILLE (11) showed improvement last time out and can be competitive again. CANDELARI (14) is a Frankel gelding who makes his debut and would not be a surprise winner.
SELECTIONS
MANIGOD (9) – FAR L’AMORE (4) – AMARENA DODVILLE (11) – CANDELARI (14)
RACE 5: DU ROND ALICANTE MAIDEN STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM CHANTILLY RACE 5) – 1900M – TIME: 21:15 PRIZE MONEY: EUR30000
Summary: BOGOTA (6) was deemed good enough to contest the lucrative Arqana Series des Pouliches on debut and acquitted herself well in defeat. She showed enough on that occasion and, with any improvement, ought to make a winning reappearance at the expense of CANKOURA (1) who would’ve also benefitted from the experience of a promising introduction. MIMOSA (11) fits a similar profile so shouldn’t be underestimated either. SCENT OF A WOMAN (7) completes the shortlist, especially with Maxime Guyon aboard.
SELECTIONS
BOGOTA (6) – CANKOURA (1) – MIMOSA (11) – SCENT OF A WOMAN (7)
RACE 6: DE LA FORET DE L’ISLE-ADAM HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM CHANTILLY RACE 6) – 2700M – TIME: 21:50 PRIZE MONEY: EUR15000
Summary: PARFAITE MERILL (14) got going late to finish a good 2nd on this course last time out and a repeat of that performance may suffice. However, she’ll have to thwart the likely challenges of GOLD PALACE (2), who will enjoy racing back on the PSF, and consistent WINGS OF FIRE (12) whose competitiveness at this level is assured. AND WE DANCED (7), MANDOKI (1) and, even PALMEIRA EMERY (9), appeal most of the remainder.
SELECTIONS
PARFAITE MERILL (14) – GOLD PALACE (2) – WINGS OF FIRE (12) – AND WE DANCED (7)
RACE 7: DU POTEAU DES BRULIS MAIDEN STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM CHANTILLY RACE 7) – 1900M – TIME: 22:32 PRIZE MONEY: EUR22000
Summary: REKHALE (2) caught the eye on debut with a promising 3rd against experienced opposition and, despite his tricky starting position, needn’t improve much on the form of that first-up performance to open his account. Well-related TRAMONTA (15) could threaten the selection if forward enough on debut. Experienced rivals WINDBURN (11), ANGEL FROM ABOVE (12), who showed promise in Scandinavia, and well-bred first-up starter EBADERI (13) have legitimate podium ambitions.
SELECTIONS
REKHALE (2) – TRAMONTA (15) – WINDBURN (11) – ANGEL FROM ABOVE (12)
RACE 8: DE LA FORET DE CARNELLE HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM CHANTILLY RACE 8) – 2700M – TIME: 23:07 PRIZE MONEY: EUR18000
Summary: NIGHTDANCE MAN (9) bounced back from a disappointing previous outing to finish a reassuring 2nd on this course recently and needs only to reproduce that form/performance to reconnect with success. He gets the nod ahead of SHANGHAI SPIRIT (3), whose consistency and competitiveness at this level will stand him in good stead, and MYDAVI (10) who has dropped to a competitive mark in the ratings. ARGYRON (12), runner-up at Deauville last time, experienced HERMEVILLE (1) and erratic FREE BREATH (14) seem best of the rest.
SELECTIONS
NIGHTDANCE MAN (9) – SHANGHAI SPIRIT (3) – MYDAVI (10) – ARGYRON (12)
