RACE BY RACE PREVIEWS: KENILWORTH@2024.12.11
Kenilworth, 11.12.2024, Race 1, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R110.000, 12:15GMT+2
Race Summary: HERITAGE RIDGE finished ahead of MEG’S LEGACY, POETIC PRINCESS and CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS over track and trip recently. She has the form and experience to play another leading role but it could pay to follow the progress of well-related MEG’S LEGACY who ran on well once the penny had dropped and should improve with that experience. Returning STU’S GIRL, improving CASA ESTIVA and newcomer SILVER QUALITY, especially if the market speaks in her favour, could get into the picture.
Selections:
#9 Meg’s Legacy, #14 Heritage Ridge, #2 Poetic Princess, #3 Champagne Problems
Kenilworth, 11.12.2024, Race 2, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R85.000, 12:50GMT+2
Race Summary: SCOTTISH KISS was dropped out from a wide draw last time and made eye-catching late headway. He showed enough on debut over a similar distance to suggest that this shorter trip will hold no fears. Experienced older rival PALACE GIFT receives 1,5kg so ought to make his presence felt. GREEN PLANET and MASTER INCOLOR are better than their recent efforts suggest and could have roles to play on the evidence of their earlier form. HAWAII TRACTOR and SUPERHERO are worth a market check on debut.
Selections:
#4 Scottish Kiss, #5 Palace Gift, #3 Green Planet, #11 Superhero
Kenilworth, 11.12.2024, Race 3, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R85.000, 13:25GMT+2
Race Summary: MASTEROFTHEDESERT stayed on gamely from a handy position to finish 4th over 1200m in his first as a gelding. He would’ve come on since and needn’t improve much over this extended trip to deservedly open his account. MYSTIC MAJESTY is open to improvement on his return after a gelding operation so could pose a threat from gate one. Older rival BLAME IT ON ME has the form and experience to play a leading role, especially under 54kg and in receipt of weight from those principal contenders. Unexposed TRIPPING THUNDER and likely improver BOUNDLESS LOVE appeal most of the remainder.
Selections:
#3 Masterofthedesert, #1 Mystic Majesty, #4 Tripping Thunder, #2 Blame It On Me
Kenilworth, 11.12.2024, Race 4, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R110.000, 14:00GMT+2
Race Summary: DIAMOND BOMBER holds EXQUISITE and HUNGA TONGA on the form of a recent meeting over this trip and she wouldn’t be winning out of turn after finishing 2nd in consecutive starts. RAHHABBA showed promise in 2 starts over 1250m before a break and shouldn’t be underestimated on her reappearance over this extended distance. CHERRY SKY and BLOSSOMING MIND should appreciate the step up to this trip and could improve to have their say in the outcome. CONSCIENTIOUS and STILL TOGETHER aren’t taken lightly despite their wide starting berths.
Selections:
#7 Diamond Bomber, #6 Rahhabba, #3 Exquisite, #1 Cherry Sky
Kenilworth, 11.12.2024, Race 5, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R105.000, 14:35GMT+2
Race Summary: RATTLESNAKE acquitted himself last time in a similar course-and-distance contest after a break during which he was gelded. He would’ve tightened up and will have more to offer, especially off a reduced mark. Last-start winner BLUFF ON BLUFF should remain competitive despite a 3-point penalty. However, a chance is worth taking on BARNEY MCGREW who is closely matched with those rivals on recent form. He has found form and consistency dropped to his current mark and will be competitive on these revised weight terms. FORT RED, KELP FOREST and best-weighted IMPACT INVESTOR also in it.
Selections:
#7 Barney Mcgrew, #3 Bluff On Bluff, #2 Rattlesnake, #1 Major Apollo
Kenilworth, 11.12.2024, Race 6, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R155.000, 15:15GMT+2
Race Summary: Lightly raced THE REAL PRINCE made eye-catching late progress on his reappearance over 1100m last month and would’ve blown away the cobwebs with that encouraging comeback. He should have more to offer over this extended trip and his development could be worth following. However, RAPIDASH and SAN PEDRO have the form and experience to expose any chinks in the selection’s armour. PONTE PIETRA, GET IMPRESSED and UNDERWORLD aren’t taken lightly either.
Selections:
#4 The Real Prince, #5 Rapidash, #3 San Pedro, #7 Get Impressed
Kenilworth, 11.12.2024, Race 7, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R85.000, 15:48GMT+2
Race Summary: TRES CHIC won a similar contest over this distance (beating subsequent winner Family Power) before proving she remains competitive under a 5-point penalty by finishing 2nd last time off this mark. She sets the standard and is ideally positioned in gate 2. IM THE BUZZ was caught wide when finishing 6th behind that rival but should pose more of a threat on the revised weight terms, especially under Richard Fourie. BLACK PATH, NILE THE BOSS, HANG OUT THE STARS and VERONIQUE renew rivalry and should complete the minors.
Selections:
#2 Tres Chic, #1 Black Path, #3 Im The Buzz, #5 Hang Out The Stars
Kenilworth, 11.12.2024, Race 8, Gallops, 1800m, Turf, R120.000, 16:23GMT+2
Race Summary: LICKETY SPLIT won a similar race over this distance on the Winter course last month, beating several re-opposing rivals. However, she is worse off at the weights under a 3-point penalty so could struggle to confirm her superiority. GREEN ISLE, AMONG THE CLOUDS and TWO A PENNY are weighted to turn the tables on that rival and they could fight out the finish on these terms. It is interesting to note that Grant van Niekerk now rides the latter. Progressive BELA VISTA is regally bred and open to any amount of improvement going this distance for the first time, so she has to be respected.
Selections:
#3 Among The Clouds, #4 Green Isle, #6 Lickety Split, #7 Bela Vista
Kenilworth, 11.12.2024, Race 9, Gallops, 1800m, Turf, R110.000, 16:58GMT+2
Race Summary: ARDABIL has improved as a gelding and he stayed on encouragingly to finish a close-up 3rd over this distance last time. The switch to the Summer course with its longer run-in should suit, so he gets the nod ahead of stablemate OKAVANGO who, on pedigree, will appreciate the sterner test of stamina and a more favourable barrier position, with Richard Fourie a notable jockey booking. BOMBERS IN THE SKY and WOOD WORLD have the form and experience to challenge for race honours, though the same could be said of MARINE MERCHANT who should have more to offer stretching out to this trip.
Selections:
#6 Ardabil, #8 Okavango, #7 Wood World, #10 Marine Merchant
Best Win: #3 MASTEROFTHEDESERT
Best Value Bet: #7 BARNEY MCGREW
Best Longshot: #7 BARNEY MCGREW
