Champion Jockey Richard Fourie is likely to sign-off on a stellar 2024 by riding several winners on the nine-race card at Cape Racing’s final fixture of 2024 at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday 28 December.
Justin Snaith-trained Song To The Moon has gone from strength to strength since he was gelded, winning three times and placing on another three occasions in the seven appearances after he was cut.
All three of those victories came under Fourie, who continues his partnership aboard the four-year-old son of What A Winter in Race 2 over 1800m.
Song To The Moon won a similar contest at this level over the same distance on the Winter course in his most recent outing and a resultant 4-point penalty is unlikely to prevent Snaith’s progressive inmate from completing the hat-trick.
My Archangel fits a similar profile and Lucinda Woodruff’s runner needn’t improve much on an encouraging last-start second over 1200m to open his account in Race 4 over 1400m. This son of Soqrat returned from a break during which he was gelded to fill the runners-up berth behind a more experienced rival earlier this month and, with progress expected over the extended trip, Fourie should steer the three-year-old gelding to victory.
Gimmethegreenlight gelding King Viserys runs his best races under Fourie so that bodes well for Piet Botha’s four-year-old who is reunited with the champion jockey in Race 6 over 1400m.
King Viserys caught the eye when a fast-finishing third over 1000m in his last start and on the evidence of that display, the step up in distance could be to his liking.
Carriacou is another of Fourie’s mounts with a strong winning chance. The Eric Sands-trained hard-knocker lines up in Race 7 over 1400m in good form and physical condition after finishing third over track and trip three weeks ago in a similar contest, and a repeat of that performance should see this Captain Of All gelding rewarded for his consistency.
