Race Preview

RACE 1: DES AIGUILLES HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) – 2500M – TIME: 20:57 PRIZE MONEY: EUR21000

Summary: Late-bloomer PEPITO DES CARLES (1) stayed on encouragingly to finish 5th in a
recent course-and-distance handicap and, with further progress on the cards, is good value to turn the tables on APOPHTEGME (3), who finished 2nd in that race and wouldn’t be winning out of turn. LA DOLOISE (7) shouldn’t be hastily condemned for her disappointing last start and may redeem herself if bouncing back to the form that saw her finish 2nd over this track and trip in her previous outing. BORN TO WIN (12) and BREEZE D’AUTEUIL (14) complete the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
PEPITO DES CARLES (1) – APOPHTEGME (3) – LA DOLOISE (7) – BORN TO WIN (12)

RACE 2: PRIX DES FALAISES HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) – 2500M – TIME: 21:32 PRIZE MONEY: EUR23000

Summary: A fast-finishing 2nd over this course and distance last time in his first PSF appearance, EL TIGRE (4) needn’t improve a great deal on that eye-catching career-best effort to open his account. Better was expected of LILLY LUX (2) at Lyon-La Soie last month but she retains the means to play a leading role. Last-start winner NOUSDEUX (10) faces stronger opposition but, given the manner of her performance in that course-and-distance claimer, should remain competitive. HUCHENANE (8) and KAHOOT (9) appeal most of the remainder.

SELECTIONS
EL TIGRE (4) – LILLY LUX (2) – NOUSDEUX (10) – HUCHENANE (8)

RACE 3: EDGAR ROLFE CLAIMING STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) – 1900M – TIME: 22:07 PRIZE MONEY: EUR16000

Summary: Runner-up in a stronger course-and-distance handicap in late November, LETTYT
FIGHT (3) needs only to repeat that performance to go one better, despite the headgear worn that day being dispensed with. A drop into this grade should also suit RIO (4), who is well placed here with the benefit of her apprentice rider’s weight allowance. Familiar foes SCHWENDI (5) and SIM CARD (1) are hard-knockers with the form and experience to make their presence felt.

SELECTIONS
LETTYT FIGHT (3) – RIO (4) – SCHWENDI (5) – SIM CARD (1)

RACE 4: DE HIEVILLE HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) – 1900M – TIME: 22:42 PRIZE MONEY: EUR25000

Summary: DEEP LOVE (2) was an unlucky 2nd in a course-and-distance claimer last month and is taken to gain compensation at the expense of the improving GWO KA (4), who has found his niche in PSF handicaps and should be opening his account sooner rather than later. Last-start winner CHAUMIERE DE PRE (1) fits a similar profile and should have more to offer over this extended distance. FELICIA STORM (9), after a much-improved (career-best) 2nd in a courseand-distance handicap last month, appeals most of the remainder

SELECTIONS
DEEP LOVE (2) – GWO KA (4) – CHAUMIERE DE PRE (1) – FELICIA STORM (9)

RACE 5: PORT-MULBERRY STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) – 1900M – TIME: 23:17 PRIZE MONEY: EUR18000

Summary: MY FANCY (1) was placed on several of his runs last year and can be forgiven for his latest outing when he failed to shine. He is a marginal choice ahead of LOVE IS GOLD (6) who has been on the premises in good class handicaps recently without success. He can make his presence felt. CENTRICAL (2) looks like the best option each way. He has been racing over further recently, the trip drop is the biggest worry. DOURIANN (3) is also worth considering.

SELECTIONS
MY FANCY (1) – LOVE IS GOLD (6) – CENTRICAL (2) – DOURIANN (3)

RACE 6: CHEMIN DE FER HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) – 1300M – TIME: 23:52 PRIZE MONEY: EUR32000

Summary: HEY VINCE (5) was a cosy winner when last seen in November last year over 1500m at this track. He should appreciate the step up in trip and is a horse to follow off his current handicap rating. His main danger could be FELIX AUX ORMES (4) who ran a credible race over 1400m at this track on his handicap debut in December. He is also bred to stay further. ROYAL ENCLOSURE (1) is the each-way angle. MEHMIST (9) heads the remainder.

SELECTIONS
HEY VINCE (5) – FELIX AUX ORMES (4) – ROYAL ENCLOSURE (1) – MEHMIST (9)

RACE 7: DE LA SEULETTE HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) – 1300M – TIME: 00:27 PRIZE MONEY: EUR21000

Summary: BEST LOOKING (2) has plenty of handicap experience and was a close third on her latest run at this track over 1400m in mid-December. She is the tentative selection in an open handicap, the main concern is stall 12. FORTUNATE SON (6) is well drawn in stall 2 and should have the speed from the stalls to get a nice position in the early part of the race. INTUITION (8) is also well drawn in 3 and is one to keep safe. RED IN SIGHT (13) looks best of the rest.

SELECTIONS
BEST LOOKING (2) – FORTUNATE SON (6) – INTUITION (8) – RED IN SIGHT (13)

RACE 8: DE LA SEULLES HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) – 1300M – TIME: 01:02 PRIZE MONEY: EUR23000

Summary: DULINI (2) likes this venue and won over 1400m in August in a handicap. She ran a pleasing second on her latest start over the same trip in late November last year. She looks like the one to beat. Her likely main threat could be RIYABOVKA (5), a course winner. She should have the speed for her first try over 1300m. GOLDFIELD (3) and KEW BRIDGE (6) warrant respect and can be involved at the business end.

SELECTIONS
DULINI (2) – RIYABOVKA (5) – GOLDFIELD (3) – KEW BRIDGE (6)
