RACE 1: DE MAZEROLLES STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM PAU RACE 3) – 1600M – TIME: 19:36 PRIZE MONEY: EUR14000
Summary: SPEEDY RECORD (1) ran a credible race at this track recently and an even better performance at Deauville before that when he was second on the PSF on January 4th in a Class 3 handicap. He can score from NATANSI (2) who is still a maiden but has some decent form without getting her head in front. VLASIKHOVA (4) has been placed at this track before and should not be ruled out of the frame. ZOE (8) is also worth a mention.
SELECTIONS
SPEEDY RECORD (1) – NATANSI (2) – VLASIKHOVA (4) – ZOE (8)
RACE 2: DE PONTACQ CLAIMING STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM PAU RACE 6) – 1400M – TIME: 21:18 PRIZE MONEY: EUR12000
Summary: VERMEER (5) was dropped back to 1200m last time after a pleasing third on his debut over 1600m in late November. The drop in class and the trip today could be more to his liking. He is preferred to VARENNE (6) who has shown enough in maiden races to win a claiming event. GYP SEA (2) is one for the each-way backers to be with. DEWSBURY (10) is also worth considering and should not be far away at the business end.
SELECTIONS
VERMEER (5) – VARENNE (6) – GYP SEA (2) – DEWSBURY (10)
RACE 3: DE RONTIGNON HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM PAU RACE 8) – 2400M – TIME: 22:28 PRIZE MONEY: EUR23000
Summary: SHERKANE (1) scored by 1.5L at this track and trip when last seen late last month and has a leading chance of following up from old rival PRETTY STORM (4) who was second when they met last month. On better terms, she can make things interesting. ZINGARELLE (2) is one for the each-way backers to look at after a close third behind the two already mentioned at Pau last month. MANLY (3) is also worth a mention.
SELECTIONS
SHERKANE (1) – PRETTY STORM (4) – ZINGARELLE (2) – MANLY (3)
RACE 4: DU SAP-ANDRE HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM DEAUVILLE RACE 1) – 3400M – TIME: 23:03 PRIZE MONEY: EUR23000
Summary: An impressive winner on this course over 3400m last month, NASDAQ (2) is unlikely to be deterred by his 3kg penalty and it should pay to follow his progress. Maturing HUCHENANE (7) will appreciate stretching out to this distance so, with any improvement, he could make life difficult for the selection. Returning NATURAL LIGHT (3), experienced L’INITIE (8) and EL TIGRE (5) are competitive the remaining podium berth.
SELECTIONS
NASDAQ (2) – HUCHENANE (7) – NATURAL LIGHT (3) – L’INITIE (8)
RACE 5: DU VAUDREUIL STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM DEAUVILLE RACE 2) – 1500M – TIME: 23:38 PRIZE MONEY: EUR16000
Summary: ON LOCKDOWN (8) was touched off in the shadow of the post in the key reference event earlier this month but need only repeat that performance to gain compensation. SAXON VILLAGE (4) was desperately unlucky in that race so he deserves another chance. Consistent MERCURISSIME (2) and NOCE D’OR (10), whose latest performance was encouraging, should make their presence felt too. BOUGAINVILLIER (3) is a potential spoilsport and will appeal to lovers of oustiders.
SELECTIONS
ON LOCKDOWN (8) – SAXON VILLAGE (4) – MERCURISSIME (2) – NOCE D’OR (10)
RACE 6: DE LA POINTE DU SIEGE CLAIMING STAKES (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM DEAUVILLE RACE 3) – 1300M – TIME: 00:13 PRIZE MONEY: EUR19000
Summary: ZEPLACETOBE (15) returned to form at this level of competition and a repeat of that course-and-distance display should suffice. WELCH FUSILIER (5) has a bit to find on the form of that recent meeting but there were legitimate excuses for his performance, and he should pose more of a threat here. CITY OF HOPE (10), reunited with Maxime Guyon, CALIFANO (13) and PARISIAN LEAH (11) appeal most of the remainder.
SELECTIONS
ZEPLACETOBE (15) – WELCH FUSILIER (5) – CITY OF HOPE (10) – CALIFANO (13)
RACE 7: DE L’HOTEL ATLANTIQUE HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM DEAUVILLE RACE 4) – 1900M – TIME: 00:48 PRIZE MONEY: EUR22000
Summary: Lightly raced MONBE (3) caught the eye when 2nd in a course-and-distance event last month and needn’t improve much to go one better with Christophe Soumillon maintaining the partnership. Consistent hard-knockers FITZCARRALDO (5), LHOMMAIZE (11) and veteran last-start winner ANTRIM (4), even under a resultant penalty, have the form and experience to expose any chinks in the selection’s armour. MAGIC TUNIS (7) and GO LOVE (8) complete the shortlist.
SELECTIONS
MONBE (3) – FITZCARRALDO (5) – LHOMMAIZE (11) – ANTRIM (4)
RACE 8: DU TRIDENT HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM DEAUVILLE RACE 5) – 1900M – TIME: 01:23 PRIZE MONEY: EUR18000
Summary: DAYSANIYA (4) has taken a long time to win her first race but she won it well enough to suggest she can follow up over a course and distance she clearly likes. COLD PLAY (10) was not far behind the selection when they last met and at the revised weights he should be a big player again. NAUGHTY MONTY (5) was not disgraced at Chantilly last time out and could do even better this time around. MADRAS (14) has some fair recent form and is not out of it
SELECTIONS
DAYSANIYA (4) – COLD PLAY (10) – NAUGHTY MONTY (5) – MADRAS (14)
RACE 9: DE LA GARE TRANSATLANTIQUE HANDICAP (FIBRESAND TRACK) (FROM DEAUVILLE RACE 6) – 1900M – TIME: 01:58 PRIZE MONEY: EUR27000
Summary: HAVANA SIX (10) remains in good form and was a winner the last time she went this course and distance. CHANCE (7) likes this track and trip and can contest the finish once again. SAKURA GLITTERS (4) carries a penalty for her win at Chantilly and she would not be a surprise winner. I’M A BELIEVER (1) ran well over further last time out but is another in with a winning chance.
SELECTIONS
HAVANA SIX (10) – CHANCE (7) – SAKURA GLITTERS (4) – I’M A BELIEVER (1)
