Race 2 No 1 GOD’S GIFT
The slow tempo placed him at a significant disadvantage last time out as he settled off the pace. To his credit, he attacked the line strongly late, finishing fourth over 1600m in Class 4.
Returning to Class 5, where he has a strong record with seven wins, is a big plus this week. Despite carrying top weight, he must be rated a strong chance.
Race 4 No 2 SUPER BABY
Formerly racing in Singapore, he has been competitive in Class 4 and appears to have more upside as a four-year-old. In his most recent outing, he endured a wide trip yet still managed to finish third over a mile in Class 3.
Resuming from a 120-day break, he has trialled well for his return and looks primed to run a strong race first-up.
Race 5 No 5 FAMILY DELIGHT
He had no luck last start, being caught wide throughout after drawing an awkward barrier. The extra ground he covered took its toll, and he weakened in the straight, finishing fifth, beaten by 6.5 lengths over this track and distance.
With a smoother run, he looks capable of making amends, especially with Ricky Choi’s stable in tremendous form at the moment.
Race 8 No 3 PACIFIC VAMPIRE
It proved to be a hasty decision to run this talented sprinter in the G1 Singapore Gold Cup (2000m) last time out, where he tailed off and was beaten by 41.5 lengths. However, a closer look at his previous form shows his potential, with a Kranji Stakes A win over 1200m three starts ago and a fourth-place finish in a strong field in his penultimate start.
If he still retains his ability, he will be hard to beat over his preferred distance on his local debut.
