Drama unfolded at the Selangor Turf Club as Jockey S Ruzaini was hit with a 12-month suspension and a RM30,000 fine after testing positive for methamphetamine. The shocking revelation came from a sample taken on 12 January 2025, with test results confirming the presence of the banned substance.
Ruzaini pleaded guilty to the charge under MRA Rule 136(3)(b), admitting to the offence. The Stewards’ inquiry on 26 January considered his guilty plea, the severity of the substance, and other mitigating factors before handing down the one-year suspension, backdated to 18 January 2025, until 17 January 2026.
Adding to the fallout, Ruzaini must undergo a testing program before he can even think about making a comeback. The big question now—will he return, or is this the end of the road?
