The Hong Kong Jockey Club bought six attractive colts at the recent New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka 2025 Yearling Sale for a total outlay of NZ$2.37 million (approx. HK$10.37 million).
The first lot to fall the Club’s way was Lot 11 for NZ$625,000. The colt is by Savabeel, sire of seven-time Hong Kong winners Rattan, Flame Hero and Ever Laugh. The bay is out of young stakes winning mare Indecision – who has two winners from two foals to race.
The Club went to NZ$475,000 for another of Savabeel’s progeny – Lot 356. The colt is a full brother to The Perfect Pink – winner of the 2021 G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas (1600m).
The Club also scooped a pair of Proisir colts – Lot 279 for NZ$325,000 and Lot 316 for NZ$260,000. Lot 279 has close ties to Hong Kong Group 1 placegetter Columbus County.
Lot 316’s dam So Wicked won seven times in New Zealand and Australia, while Proisir has enjoyed success in Hong Kong with his runners led by triple Class 2 winner Trillion Win.
The Club went to NZ$525,000 for Lot 149 – a son of Satono Aladdin. The sire produced Hong Kong winners The Absolute, Speedy Smartie and Courier Aladdin. The bay is a full brother to 2023 G2 Hawke’s Bay Guineas (1400m) winner Lantern Way.
Lot 22 is a chestnut colt by Per Incanto, costing NZ$160,000. The juvenile is closely related to Socks Nation – winner of the 2024 G1 Queensland Oaks (2400m). Among Per Incanto’s leading progeny in Hong Kong is Duke Wai, I Give, Baby Crystal and Healthy Healthy.
Per Incanto has been Hong Kong’s leading sire for individual winners numerous times.
