The progeny of One World continues to impress. Over various distances, colts and fillies, the Champion Freshman Sire of 2023/24 has proven that he is no one-season wonder. The results speak for themselves. He is responsible for Kaiboy who looks to have future feature race credentials. He is tipped to win race 2 over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Wednesday.
It is a small field of only six runners with some resetting the clocks and working their way back onto the racecourse or back to form. Kaiboy went up to the Winchester Sprint Cup over 1000m at the start of January, the last time he was seen and acquitted himself nicely to finish a 3,25-length fourth behind runaway, light-weight winner Candy Town. In front of Kaiboy were feature race winners Questioning and Bereave while behind him was the hugely progressive Meu Capitano.
Aldo Domeyer is carded to take the ride. Candice Bass-Robinson is the trainer of Kaiboy. The combination is probably the most in-form in Cape Town at the moment with horses delivering as expected.
The stable companion Symphony In White is well-weighted as per the conditions of the race. She gets a 2,5kg allowance for being a filly. She ran a fair race in the SABC Olympic Duel Stakes over 1200m last month when she finished a 4,4-length sixth behind I’m So Pritti. She is talented and not one to take lightly. She is the main danger to Kaiboy. JP van der Merwe is carded to take the ride.
Artiste should make a huge runner in race 8 over 1100m. She put up a satisfactory performance at her last start when she finished less than a length behind Trip To Maputo in a blanket finish. Three runs back she finished 2,5 lengths behind Kyalami Girl and there is 1,5kg between them now in favour of Artiste. That should close the deficit and the scope that Artiste has could swing the scales in her favour. There should not be much between them.
Legal Counsel is a horse to keep in the memory bank and he has a huge chance in race 5 over 1800m. His last win came on Met Day last month and he scored a fairly dominant two-length win over Iconic Destination over 1400m. The step up in distance should suit ideally. The form of his win is boosted by Please Be True winning smartly around two weeks ago. He won against stronger opposition. Richard Fourie is carded to take the ride for Justin Snaith.
Bounceback represents the same jockey-trainer combination in race 4. He seems to be on the right track and it has always seemed as if he will improve and come into his own eventually. He must have better days ahead. He ran into heaps of trouble at his last start and still managed to finish 1,9 lengths behind Rich Folks Hoax over 1600m. He steps up to 1800m now and he should relish the extra trip because it seems like he takes his time to unwind.
Only two runners have form in race 1 for two-year-olds over 1000m. Military Command is sit having run 11 days earlier and he put up a pleasing performance when finishing six lengths behind his stable companion Spacebound over this course and distance. Trainer Peter Muscutt was satisfied with the performance and he should step forward to be dangerous. As usual, two-year-old unraced disclaimers apply. Watch the market because there are some well-bred runners to consider from yards which ready them up.
Umfula looks ready to win and he should take all the beating in race 3 over 1800m. He was outrun by Ahead Of The Facts and ultimately beaten by 1,25 lengths in second. The pace was so hot in that race and it opened up for the horse from last. There was no disgrace in that effort. It is a fair field with some form to work with and take aboard. But Umfula has given the impression that there is more to come so it could be his day. Fourie will be aboard for Brett and James Crawford.
Dream Searcher is in rude form at the moment. Although she is limited to a low level, she stacks up with consistent performances and now she seeks a hat-trick of wins. Craig Bantam gets the most out of her. Adam Marcus is the trainer. Her last win was her career best when thumping Vivo Per Lei by 3,75 lengths. She is tipped to win race 6 over 1400m.
The most exciting race of the day is race 7 over 1000m but it is wildly open. Bluff On Bluff is a crowd favourite. With 46 runs under his belt, he is so well performed with six wins and 17 places to his name. He ran a good race in defeat last time when turned over by Un Bel Di by 0,75 lengths. The winner looked hard to beat and he duly arrived but Bluff On Bluff was game in defeat. He is such a trier and if he does not win, he ought to be involved in the minor places. Ashton Arries takes the ride.
