RACE BY RACE PREVIEWS: TURFFONTEIN INSIDE@2025.03.13

Turffontein Inside, 13.03.2025, Race 1, Gallops, 1450m, Turf, R130.000, 12:35GMT+2

Race Summary: WHISPERING DEATH stayed on encouragingly when second on debut over a similar trip and won’t need to improve much to go one better with that experience to count on. GOLDEN WARRIOR and MIGHTY EAGLE would’ve also benefitted from pleasing introductory outings over a shorter distance and this extended trip should unlock improvement from both colts. Well-bred newcomer CHRONICLE KING is worth a market check on debut.

Selections: #7 Whispering Death, #2 Golden Warrior, #5 Mighty Eagle, #1 Chronicle King

Turffontein Inside, 13.03.2025, Race 2, Gallops, 1450m, Turf, R120.000, 13:10GMT+2

Race Summary: EMERALD FORGE started odds-on on debut and was unlucky not to score first-up. She ran on well after a tardy start to finish second over 1160m and, with this extended trip thought to be more to her liking, needn’t improve much to make amends. VIPINGO is also expceted to confirm the promise of her debut so could trouble the selection. SISTER GOLDEN HAIR and well-bred newcomers ETHICAL and MIDNIGHT MIRACLE complete the shortlist.

Selections: #2 Emerald Forge, #9 Vipingo, #4 Midnight Miracle, #7 Sister Golden Hair

Turffontein Inside, 13.03.2025, Race 3, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R120.000, 13:45GMT+2

Race Summary: DESERT CLOUD has filled the runners-up berth in both starts (over 1000m) so wouldn’t be winning out of turn. She is open to any amount of improvement over the extra 200m and it should pay to follow her progress. ESPINOZA (gelded), RING A LING (excuses last time) and AMANATTO have the form and experience to compete for the Exacta and Trifecta positions. Newcomers MISS TAKES and TWO FOR THE BOYS are others to consider, especially if the market speaks in their favour.

Selections: #10 Desert Cloud, #1 Espinoza, #8 Ring A Ling, #7 Two For The Boys

Turffontein Inside, 13.03.2025, Race 4, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R105.000, 14:20GMT+2

Race Summary: Improving TANA MAREE caught the eye last month when a fast-finishing second on this track over 1000m on her return from a layoff. She would’ve tightened up with the benefit of that comeback so will be hard to beat if making the expected improvement over this extended trip. WINDS OF GRACE, BLUE QUARTZ and GIMME A STORM fit similar profiles and won’t be far off the mark if building on improved recent displays. Well-bred newcomer HEAVYLIESTHECROWN needn’t be special to feature prominently either.

Selections: #2 Tana Maree, #8 Heavyliesthecrown, #10 Winds Of Grace, #1 Gimme A Storm

Turffontein Inside, 13.03.2025, Race 5, Gallops, 1800m, Turf, R120.000, 14:55GMT+2

Race Summary: ROYAL MIRACLE has benefitted from gelding and ought to play a leading role with further progress expected over this trip in his peak outing. HUEHUETENANGO fits a similar profile and should make his presence felt too. CHIEFTAIN’S SHIELD, GOLD DE GRACE and PASS THE BATON are exposed but have the form and experience to get into the picture. However, INSTANT ATTRACTION wouldn’t be winning out of turn and she is most likely to be rewarded for her consistency with a deserved maiden victory.

Selections: #12 Instant Attraction, #1 Royal Miracle, #13 Pass The Baton, #3 Huehuetenango

Turffontein Inside, 13.03.2025, Race 6, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R150.000, 15:35GMT+2

Race Summary: RONDEBOSCH produced a career-best performance when finishing third in an 1100m Grade 3 last time and a repeat of that effort, despite a 3-point penalty, should suffice. TAXI TO THE MOON, CHIEFTAIN and last-start winner YAMADORI are distance suited and should also acquit themselves competitively. HALCYON and BIOFARMER appeal most of the remainder.

Selections: #6 Rondebosch, #1 Taxi To The Moon, #4 Chieftain, #3 Yamadori

Turffontein Inside, 13.03.2025, Race 7, Gallops, 2000m, Turf, R120.000, 16:10GMT+2

Race Summary: Lightly raced DIESEL’S SHADOW won at this level over 1800m on this track a fortnight ago and is good value to follow up under a 4-point penalty in his peak outing. HIGH QUEUE, CREPUSCOLO and LUTHULI are better at the weights so should pose more of a threat on these terms. DARK SILVER bounced back to form with a game-in-defeat third over track and trip last time and need only repeat that performance to play another leading role. SOLAR SAIL and CELTIC RUSH are others with earning potential.

Selections: #1 Diesel’s Shadow, #4 Dark Silver, #5 High Queue, #11 Crepuscolo

Turffontein Inside, 13.03.2025, Race 8, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R100.000, 16:45GMT+2

Race Summary: GUERILLA WARFARE and stablemate AFTER HOURS are hard-knockers with the form and experience at this level to fight out the finish. However, a chance is worth taking on WHISPERS OF WAR who was second in KZN recently over this distance. He has dropped to a competitive mark in the ratings and has found consistency racing with blinkers. Class-dropper SAFE SPACE, on-speed racer CARNELO and useful 3yo OMBUDSMAN (engaged to run in the Derby Trial) are others with legitimate Eachway chances.

Selections: #8 Whispers Of War, #6 Guerilla Warfare, #7 After Hours, #1 Safe Space

Best Win: #1 DIESEL’S SHADOW

Best Value Bet:

Best Longshot: #8 WHISPERS OF WAR
