Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Fillies only in this maiden. (7) CHRYSOL NIKE ran 2nd on debut over 1200M on January 25th, settling midfield and running on well. She comes in relatively fresh after nine weeks out, she should have come on for the run, and she can go one better today. (9) GIDAEHARA improved to 5th at start number two on February 22nd, showing on pace before weakening a little late on. Third-up she can be peaking fitness wise and with Maia getting on for the first time, she can get closer. (3) NAEGILUI ACE beat Gidaehara when running 3rd in that February 22nd race. She has shown progression across each of her three starts so far and can be in the mix again. (8) MISS FAMOUS and (10) SMART TAKE the other main chances.

Selections

(7) Chrysol Nike (9) Gidaehara (3) Naegilui Ace (8) Miss Famous

(9) TOUR FELIX ran once without distinction last summer and then didn’t reappear until February 23rd this year when he was a much-improved 2nd at 1200M, racing handy throughout. He should have come on for the run and he can go one better today. (7) THUNDER FIRE improved to 3rd at start number two on March 1st, similarly racing handy all the way. He’ll do the same here and third up can be even fitter. (3) J ONE POWER ran 3rd behind Tour Felix in that February 23rd race, having settled a little closer than in his first two outings and accordingly running better. He draws well and can be there or thereabouts again. (11) MUNHAK CHUKJE and (2) RAON SILENCE are others to consider.

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1700M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Not the strongest of maidens. (9) CUPID K probably gets the verdict although that means having to discount her latest effort on March 2nd when she was sent off as favourite but barely laid a glove on them and finished midfield. Her form leading up to that was good though and on her 2nd place two starts back, she warrants another chance with the extended trip potentially suiting. (11) MARUBYEOL must be close to setting the record for most class 6 starts. That’s not a good thing. However, she got her best ever finish at this distance in January and in this very modest company, could be going even better. (6) GHOST CHYSOL races fro the first time since being beaten by Marubyeol at thus distance in that January race. He comes into a better gate today and get closer. (5) GRAND FLYING and (1) SAVANA CHARLIE perhaps the best of a limited rest.

Selections

(9) Cupid K (11) Marubyeol (6) Ghost Chrysol (5) Grand Flying

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

After running 4th on debut in February, (2) VANGIE was beaten into 2nd place when sent off as favourite on March 7th over 1200M. He draws nicely here, and with the slight step up in trip, he will be hot favourite to get it right at the third time of asking. (4) JJAK SARANG also has a 4th and a 2nd from two starts to date, racing on pace both times. She can be on pace and in this a long way. Those two will be at the top of most quinella picks, although (8) HEUIMANG GUNJU was an improved 3rd at start number three over this distance on February 28th when close to the speed throughout. He can aim to at least repeat in this company. (6) FAST QUEEN and (7) THUNDER PASSION others who can potentially improve.

Selections

(2) Vangie (4) Jjak Sarang (8) Heuimang Gunju (6) Fast Queen

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(1) RAON NOTHERN DANCE is yet to win in five but comes up in class following four top four finishes, including a last start 3rd on his first try at this distance on February 23rd when close to the speed throughout. He can have come on for that experience and coming down a full 4kg in weight and drawn nicely, can win here. (3) DANGDAECHOWOL is similarly winless and in his case has sic top five finishes from seven attempts. He enters off a 2nd place at this class and distance on January 25th and while he was well beaten by a good winner, he won’t need to improve much to have winning claims here. (9) LOTUSMIREU has improved since a six-month layoff and can aim to at least match the 3rd places she has from each of her latest two. (6) GRAND KWAEMA and up in class (10) TROLL other minor hopes.

Selections

(8) SWORD MASTER was an also ran in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Rookie and since then has two runner-up finishes and most recently, a 4th place at this class over a mile on February 23rd when on pace throughout. He ran 2nd on his only previous try at this distance and he looks the one to beat today. He will need to overturn the form on (6) WORLD HIT, who was 3rd in that February 23rd race, showing on pace throughout. He will be on the speed again and can be in this a long way. (5) HOMYEONG SHINHWA comes up in class following a maiden win over 1300M that had been coming. She carries a light weight and can measure up in this company. (7) MORNING DEW and (10) TRIPLE AXEL are others to look out for.

(7) RAON THE KEISHA got her maiden win at start three last November and followed up with back-to-back runner-up finishes in her first two tries at this class, both over this distance. She races for the first time since January 4th so match fitness may have to be taken on trust, but she is the one to beat. (4) GLOBAL SERVE is yet to win in seven attempts but has six top four finishes including last time out when a very close 3rd at this class and distance having raced handy throughout. He will be on pace here and should be firmly in the mix again. (5) ANDAMIRO beat a couple of these on her way to 2nd place in filly only company on March 2nd and can continue her positive run of form. (2) SEMYEONG DIA is next best and then the form falls off precipitously, with (8) VICTORY QUEEN perhaps the best of the rest.

(5) SAMAKUI KKOT has won two of her last three, most recently at this class over 1200M on March 7th when on pace throughout. She comes up a full 3kg as a result, but she draws well, and she can win again. After four runner-up finishes, (3) MAENGNYONG got his maiden win at the sixth time of asking on March 2nd, leasing all the way around. He is up in class but is slightly down in weight, draws well, and can measure up at this level. (2) PUNCHER was an improved 3rd behind Samakui Kkot on March 7th and drawn well and lightly weighted, he can be there or thereabouts again. (1) EL CAZADOR and (9) AMAZING WORLD are other place chances.

(4) HEY CUPID is two starts into a comeback following ten months out. He hasn’t shown a lot in those two appearances since winning a January trial but he gets a class drop here and while that takes him up to top weight, he also comes back to a trip at which he has won and from a good draw, he can win. (2) JECHUK IHO has won just once in sixteen races but enters off a 3rd place at this class and distance on March 1st. He looks nicely in here and can go close again. The rest really need to pick up on recent form. (5) GEUNYANG GARA led last time before knocking up fast. She draws better today and was a winner at this distance at class 5 level two outings back. (9) TROT QUEEN and (8) BLUSHING ROSE others who can place.

Busan Race 4: Class 4 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

Tricky one. (7) STEALTH MODE enters off a 2nd place at this class over 1800M on February 28th when leading early only to go down emphatically to a very good winner (Oasis Red) He comes back to a trip at which he has a win, a 2nd and a 3rd from three attempts and from on the pace, he can be the one to beat. (2) AMUR also has an excellent record over the mile with a win and a runner-up finish from just two tries. That 2nd place was last time out on February 14th when handy throughout and briefly striking the front at the top of the straight. He is drawn nicely and can be a big danger. (11) TROUBLEMAKER has a 2nd and a 3rd from her latest two and can cause some trouble again on what will be her first crack at two turns. (6) WORLD WINNERS MAN and (8) CHEONGMA HWANGHU are others to consider.

Seoul Race 7: Class 4 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

Stick a pin in it stuff here. Our pin alights on (4) TAMRA CHOEGANGJA who does appear to be working himself back towards a second win with a 3rd and 2nd in his latest two, most recently his first try at this class and distance on March 1st when coming from well off the pace. He should have benefited from that and can go one better. (8) BRIGHT WINNER has back-to-back 2nd places from her latest two at 1700M and 1800M. They have been in contrasting styles but in this company, she should be on pace and has as good a chance as any. (2) BISANG DAY is two for two and comes rapidly up in class. Both those wins were at 1200M so she is also up significantly in distance but she can measure up. (7) ÉCLAIR POWER and (6) PURGE KING among plenty of others with solid claims.

Busan Race 5: Class 1 (2000M) Handicap / KRW 110 Million

Class 1 but with a ratings cap of 95. (9) BEOLMAUI MONSTER has only missed the top four on two occasions from sixteen starts and comes in here having won his latest three at 1800M and 2000M. He tackles class 1 for the first time but given the cap, he should be very competitive again. (2) GRAND SUN has run 2nd in each of his last three, all at this class and all at 2000M, each time with plenty of today’s rivals behind him. Under today’s conditions, he comes up a full 5.5kg in weight but shapes as the main danger to breaking Beolmaui Monster’s streak. (7) MACH TITAN was 3rd behind Grand Sun having led for much of the way around and the veteran should be there or thereabouts again. (6) STAR MATTA and (10) TOP FIRE others in the placing frame.

Fillies and mares only here. (5) GEOLJAK DREAM comes in having beaten three of these on her way to 2nd place at 1400M on March 2nd, racing handy throughout. An apprentice takes her down in weight here and she can go one better. (1) AREUMDAUN SAI was 4th in that March 2nd race, settling right back and running on. She was also 4th on her only previous try at a mile in February and she looks to be the main danger. (10) SEOBU CHAMP hasn’t run on in her latest two, but she carries a very light weight again and from the widest gate, can slot in behind the field and finish strongly here. (7) COMPLETE HEART and (9) ARCH MEMORY are others in the minor money hunt.

Busan Race 6: Class Open (1600M) Special Weight A / Luna Stakes (KOR-Listed) / KRW 300 Million

The first leg of the Triple Tiara for three-year-old fillies. It’s competitive but we’ll go with the furthest along in terms of achievement so far and that’s (2) FANTASTIC VALUE. She is the only one to have raced at class 3 level, which she did when 4th over 1800M on March 2nd, and she is one of just two here to have won over a mile, which she achieved at class 4 in January. She draws well, Seo Seung-un is on, and she can win. Moon Se-young presumable isn’t in Busan for the riding fee on (7) FLYING DAY. She has two wins from three starts most recently at class 5 over 1400M and looks to have the potential to step up here. Like Fantastic Value, (10) LIME TREE is a class 4 winner and a winner over a mile, doing both on February 14th. A winner of three of her last four, she should be firmly in the frame. (4) HUIMANG RANI and (8) OKCHEON WIN STAR others who may step up.

(2) JANGBI DAEUN is a winner of four from seven most recently two starts back at his class over a mile. She enters having run 4th at 1800M on February 8th when on pace throughout. She has never raced at this precise trip but was a front-running winner over 1300M and she will be a short-priced favourite here. (4) MIGHTY SWEET was a winner over 1200M on debut at the end of December but was hard to load on her return in February and didn’t show much interest. She draws well here and if she can get away well, she can be in this. (5) KING DIA has plenty of experience at this class and is one for one over 1400M. He’ll be on the speed with every chance of being involved at the business end of the race. (3) ULTRA THUNDER and (7) MISS WIN STAR others in the frame.

(8) YONGAM SESANG won four in a row, two either side of a six-month absence between June and December of last year. He stepped up to this class and distance for the first time on February 23rd to run a solid 2nd place and while he carries his fair share of weight today, he can go one better. (7) MAGLE DAY was a big priced class and distance winner on February 23rd, settling right back before running on very well. He comes up 2.5kg in weight but warrants more respect this time. (9) DAESEONG STAR was well back in the Sports Seoul Classic Trial at his latest start but prior to that won at 1700M at class 4 level in January, leading all the way, and under a very light weight, should be right in this. (10) POWERFUL SOCKS and (4) G MOTION others to consider at least on a place line.

Seoul Race 11: Class 1 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 110 Million

Class 1 but with a ratings cap of 95. (2) HERO FIGHTER is a winner of three of his last four, most recently at this class over a mile on January 19th when leading from gate to wire. He is a two-time winner at 1800M already, and while he is up a full 5kg in weight, in this company he will be a warm favourite to strike again. (11) MIGHTY CHIP came through to score confidently at this class over 2000M on February 23rd. He too is up in weight to the tune of 4kg, but the wide draw shouldn’t be a problem, and he can be a danger. (3) JANGSAN MONSTER was 4th behind Mighty Chip in that February 23rd race. Three of his four victories have come at this trip and while he loves coming 3rd – he has done it twelve times – better shouldn’t be ruled out. (10) HANGANG POWER and (4) SARYEONI FIRST, who has been through two trials since his latest outing, others to consider.
